Cross Boss is played between two people, either sharing a mobile or over the network. You can play against friends you know or randomly selected opponents.

How to Play
A match starts with a new crossword puzzle. Over 200 crosswords are available, all specially designed for Cross Boss. All clues and images are blurred at the start, so nothing can be solved from the beginning.
Players take turns making 2 moves per turn. A move can be one of the following:
Reveal a clue (shown to both players).
Sharpen the image (shown to both players).
Enter a word.
Reveal a correct letter in a square (not shown to the opponent).
Scoring
Each correctly filled letter gives 1 point. Each complete word with at least two letters gives an additional 1 point.
A wrong letter gives zero points — no minus points for mistakes.
When a player completes a word, they take over all letters in that word. A single well-placed letter can flip the game in a cascade — letter and word points are redistributed in a chain reaction.
The player with the most points when the puzzle is fully solved wins.
Tips & Strategy
To win consistently in Cross Boss, you need to think one step ahead:
- Move D (reveal a letter for yourself only) is strongest when you know you're close to solving a word. Your opponent can't see the letter — so you can complete a word without giving away clues.
- Move A (reveal a clue for both players) is best used when you have no idea what the answer is. The information goes to both players — but maybe you're better at using it.
- Plan your cascades: When you complete a word, you take over all its letters. If your opponent has already filled in three of four letters in a word, you can take all that word's points with a single move.
- Think about the image: Sharpening (move B) benefits the better image-guesser. If you're better — sharpen. If you're unsure — wait.
About the Crosswords
All crosswords in Cross Boss are custom-made for the game. Unlike regular crosswords, each puzzle is paired with a blurred image that gradually sharpens as players reveal more during the match.
There are currently over 200 crosswords in the game, covering a wide range of topics. The game is continuously updated with new puzzles.
